Why hello there, I'm Mike.
When asked what I wanted to be when I grow up. I always thought...
I have no idea Uncle Barry, I only see you twice a year, what an awkward question to ask.
But, I'd normally answer with how much I enjoyed data entry, so probably an accountant...
That would quieten my interrogators for a while, and I was able to dodge the question until the next family gathering.

A few years on I had a degree in Public health, and I was still unsure what I wanted to do.
I couldn't get a job I liked, so I did what anyone would do. I left the UK to volunteer at a community bicycle center in Bologna, Italy.
Nearly 2 months there motivated a 2000km solo cycle to Berlin.
That trip taught me two things.
- Mosquito bites itch.
- I want to work with bicycles every day.
So with my 2 essential life lessons learned. I packed some bug spray and flew to another community bicycle project.
This time to Kuala Lumpur in the SE Asian country of Malaysia.
While here, I learned basic web design and built a site for the bicycle project.
Then it hit me. I found my calling in life.
I'll be a bicycle blogger!
The original name for this site was "Mike The Bike," but I had to change it after people were getting the wrong impression.
So with that, Pinch-Flat was born.
Just a heads up. I do earn a little commission from the products I recommend. This is great as it means I can put off getting a real job for a while longer!

Why You Should Follow Pinch-Flat
You can read more about me and how I started my story of Pinch-Flat here. My goal is to bring honest, genuine, actionable cycling advice to as many people as possible.
